Growing a Mother

Hello Friends,

The podcast is LIVE!

Listen HERE, and please subscribe and review if you like what you hear, it really helps with the success of the podcast.

The first episode is with Dr. Morgan Finkel, a general pediatrician, and Dr. Jaci Witmer, a clinical psychologist, discussing the ups and downs of early motherhood. The conversation highlights that you don't have to like or enjoy each stage of motherhood and that the phases, good and bad, change often. I love that this conversation blends both the personal experience and deep expertise in the perinatal space. Give it a listen and let us know what you think! I plan on releasing 6 episodes, one every Thursday, each episode a conversation with an incredible woman and one awesome husband.

Next week I interview my husband about the ups and downs of your romantic relationship with a young kid. Subscribe to listen in next week: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/growing-a-mother/id1810693239

A quick life update from me:

I just started a job with BrightFarms, a greenhouse grown lettuce company, working in innovation/marketing. It is my first corporate 9-5 job since 2014 (besides some cosulting projects), and I am excited, nervous, motivated, and all the things. I am worried about juggling childcare and spending quality time with my son, and I know that I will need to set boundaries and expectations with work and with my husband about what we need to do together to make it all work. I have a tendency to overthink and get anxious about transitions, but I really want to take it a day at a time and trust the process as it unfolds. WHEW!

I will continue to share my thoughts and research in the newsletter, and I am excited to continue the conversation with you about motherhood and our identities as "mother".

Some links and a recipe!

  • It's spring in NY, and we are so excited for the warm weather. My son and I love having picnics outside and we are loving: Primary t-shirts to add color to my son's wardrobe

  • Picnic blanket that is waterproof on the bottom. Shoutout to my Los Angeles picnic experts for the recommendation.

  • Our current favorite spring toast: Inspired by the best avocado toast at Little Collins: Mash up 1 avocado with 1 lemon's worth of lemon juice, 1/4 cup feta cheese, 1 lemon's worth of lemon zest, 1/4 cup toasted pepitas, salt, and pepper. Spread on toast or stuff in a sandwich and enjoy!

I want to explore how to make the transition to motherhood easier (if that is possible!) and give you some ideas on how to embrace where you are now, reconnect with yourself, your passions, your goals, and your partner. This newsletter and podcast is part of my exploration of how I can take care of myself while also helping me to choose my next step. I am excited to have you join in honest conversation with experts and friends as we seek to pause and explore what it means to grow into a mother.

The podcast will be launching on April 24, and I will be releasing 6 weekly episodes along with a weekly newsletter highlighting my guests, topics of discussion, and some fun tidbits of life, food, and friends.

If you would be willing, please share this post with a friend or two, so we can learn and grow from each other.

Please reach out if you have any questions or want to share your own motherhood journey. I want to hear from you and would love to have you on the podcast.
